Question and Answer Series! (Part 2)

Question: "How do you think education can help resolve societal challenges like inequalities?"

Answer: 

Education, as defined in one of our previous publications, is the process whereby a person is cultured, taught, and equipped with knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to contribute meaningfully to the development of the society. It is the process of developing a person’s mind, character, and abilities through learning, training, and experiences so he/she can live wisely, reach his/her full potential, and make positive contributions to the world.

Education can help resolve societal challenges like inequalities by equipping individuals with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to create a fairer world. When people are educated, they become more aware of their rights and responsibilities, and better able to challenge systems that promote injustice. 

Education also provides equal opportunities for all—regardless of background—to develop their potential, access decent jobs, and contribute meaningfully to society. In this way, education becomes a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty, promoting social mobility, and building a more just and inclusive community.

Beyond this basic fact, however, there is a profound truth, namely, that inequality is ultimately a product of sin - the nature of fallen man that is contrary to the laws of God and makes him put himself before others, even to the point of robbing others of what is fair to them.

Gen.6.5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Gen.6.11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

This vast moral disease does not discriminate between educated and uneducated people.

Sin is a major reason why, despite the vast spread of education across continents, inequalities, injustice and corruption persist. This world is fallen, from the created material universe to the men in it, because man has sinned.

We, and indeed all creation, ultimately look to the regeneration when God will indeed wipe off all sorrows and create a truly new heaven and earth, where righteousness dwells. Only the redeemed in Jesus Christ will participate in it.

Rom. 8:19-22:

For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. 

 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 

because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 

For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.

So, dear reader, are you redeemed from your sin?  Will you participate in the new earth were true righteousness, peace and jusice will reign?

It's an important question to ask yourself now, because through Jesus Christ, man can be restored to a right relationship with God, and he will be enabled to be truly loving, meek, selfless and godly.

There is great hope ahead, behind the shores of earth; and it is found in Jesus Christ!
