Hi, friends! Welcome back to this series on a very important topic: the future and your present preparation. We answered an important question last time: Am I building a great future for myself alone? Read here if you have not.
Now, another important question we must sincerely ask ourselves concerning this is: Who am I building with?
The truth is, no one can build a solid foundation alone.
Every destiny has a builder, and who you choose to build with can either make or mar your future. They can help you fulfil your dreams, or they can make you forfeit them.
Psalm 127:1 says,
So, before you start laying your foundation, before you start your career journey, ask yourself: Who am I building with?
1. Build with Jesus
The first person you must build with is Jesus Christ. He is the chief cornerstone. Without Him, the foundation cannot stand. By Him were all people and things made, and for Him. This includes you.
Building with Jesus means putting Him first, in your plans, your goals, and your daily life.
Talk to Him about your dreams. Maybe you desire to become a doctor, a nurse, or a lawyer, involve Him from the beginning.
When you prioritize your relationship with Him, when you seek His kingdom first, everything else will begin to align. Because when Jesus is your foundation, your building cannot collapse.
2. Build with the Holy Spirit.
The second person you must build with is the Holy Spirit.
The Bible says, “You have received an unction from the Holy One, and you know all things.”
The Holy Spirit is your guide, your teacher, your helper, and your friend.
He can reveal what your eyes cannot see and teach you what no classroom can teach.
There’s truly no friend like Him.
3. Build with Like-minded People
The third category is people of the same vision and values. As students, be mindful of who you walk with. Not everyone who smiles at you is meant to build with you.
Never build with someone who has no vision, no goal, and no direction.
Such people will confuse you and slow you down. They are like fire extinguishers, they put out your burning passion. Instead, connect with people who challenge you to grow, who inspire your faith, who push you closer to your dreams and to God.
Choose your friends wisely. Choose your reading partners wisely. Choose your inner circle wisely. Because your circle determines your strength.
4. Build with Mentors and Godly Leaders
Finally, build with a trusted mentor, someone who has gone ahead of you in the journey you’re just beginning.
A mentor helps you see further, avoid mistakes, and make progress faster.
Don’t be a lone ranger, trying to figure everything out by yourself. You need people - not just any kind of people, the right ones. So, it's important that you seek guidance, seek mentorship, and seek godly counsel.
In Conclusion,
If you want to build a great future, you must be intentional about who you build with.
Build with Jesus.
Build with the Holy Spirit.
Build with vision-driven friends.
Build with wise mentors.
Because when your foundation is right, your future will shine bright. ❤️🌹
By God's grace, our last part of this series will give you practical tips in preparing for the future; practical steps you can take. Till then, continue to build rightly with the right people!
