UNDERSTANDING YOUR FRIENDSHIPS

 

There's a saying that goes "When the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable."

In the book of Ecclesiastes 3, the bible says there's a purpose to everything under the earth. This includes your relationships with other people. So also there's a purpose to friendship relationships.

The major purpose of friendships among many other purposes is interaction and intimacy. The ability to build bonds with others and not depend totally on oneself is key to building friendships. There are so many things that we have and there are so many things we do not have. Those things we do not have are hidden inside someone else. So, if we will have a fruitful existence here on earth, we need quality friends!

Friendship is really important and it's equally important to make the right friends. Keeping the right friendships will build your life and shape your future. The bible says, evil communications corrupt good manners. It's therefore necessary for one to avoid any form of evil companionship that may threaten one's relationship with God.

It's not enough to know the right kind of people to make as friends. It's necessary to also know how to make these friends. How does this work?

1. Seek to become a good friend yourself: The first step in making the right friends is to become the right friend.

When you become the right friend, you attract the right friends to your space. It's who you are that you will attract.

Hence, you should work more on becoming a better person who will offer the right influence and good value to your friends.

2. Entrust your relationships into God's hands:

There's a need to pray to God about the qualities of the kind of friends you want, just right to help your journey in life. There are people one should meet and there are people one should miss. If you miss those who you should meet and meet those who you should miss, there's trouble. Thus, one needs to pray to have the right friends.

3. Learn how to connect with people: Ultimately, the bible says, "he that will gain a friend must show himself friendly." There's a need to know how to network with people. Speak to that stranger. Collect the person's number. Start a conversation. The Holy spirit will not help you to do all of this, but He can give you direction concerning who to meet and, boldness to speak. 

4. Finally, Smile: 

A smile doesn't cost anything but achieves a lot. A smile pleases those who receives it and does no harm to those who give it. Though a smile is short lived, its memory is for a long time. Through smiles and laughter, bonds are built and strengthened!
